As promised, since I know I haven't been including much about poker in my last few blog posts, I figured I'd recap the entire month of March and put up a quick preview of PokerStars' upcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker series.

As most of you probably know, and as I've mentioned a few times, I've started backing a small stable of players as of the beginning of this year. While its had its ups and downs, the downs have been much steeper overall, and to be honest it hasn't gone so well. (an understatement) Backing is an extremely volatile venture when you have a sizable amount of players, and I've had to cut a couple people just to reduce those swings.

March was probably about a break-even month all-around. One of my horses won the Second Chance a couple weeks ago (~$50k), and two of my horses went 1-2 in the same tournamnet (Full Tilt 40k Guarantee) which was fun, but other than that things were pretty dry. I didn't have much chance to log significant hours of my own, and when I did I didn't run particularly well. I had a few mediocre scores, most recently a 4th in the Full Tilt $33k Guarantee on Sunday for ~$8k. Meh.

Still, I am very pumped and optimistic for PokerStars' SCOOP series, starting this coming Thursday. Clearly, the last huuuge score I had came in the WCOOP main event, and I really do feel like I have another gear that I can switch into when these major events come up.

You can find the full schedule on PokerStars' website, but if you are looking for me, you can find me in most (if not all) of the major NLHE and PLO events. The high-stakes events that I'm most looking forward to are:

Event 1: $530 6max NL w/ Rebuys
Event 6: $2100 6max PLO w/ 1R 1A
Event 8: $3150 2-day NL
Event 14: $5200 6max NL (this was the 2008 WSOP event I was most looking forward to as well, and it went pretty poorly, so I'm gonna get some redemption here)
Event 17: $2100 NL w/ 1R 1A
Event 19: $5200 PLO
Event 22: $10300 2-day NL Main Event

In case you can't tell, I love 6-max and rebuy tournaments, and I really feel like my PLO game has made a big jump in the past few months. I think this series should be great for me, and I plan on making some good money. Hopefully my backees can follow suit. =)

I will be playing some other events, and also a bunch of Low and Medium stakes events, but these are the events that I really have my eye on. I've had a couple offers for backing in the $25,000 Heads-Up event, but I am very certain I don't have an edge in that event, and would rather not take on $25,000 in makeup.

Anyways... You'll be seeing me at the tables a lot over the next couple weeks (for the first time in a while), so feel free to holler at me, and obviously check back here to see how things are going. I'll be updating my progress closely throughout SCOOP, and these blogs will become much more poker-related.

Till then,
AJK
